In court, I learned just what this system is all about. I’m in for a simple traffic violation. I had a careless driving ticket, but considering the fact I was not driving carelessly, I feel that charge is invalid. But anyway, it starts with a nice long drawn out wait. This allows everyone to become nervous and lose confidence in themselves.
Then in walks in a judge. Of course, we must all rise when the judge walks in so we can see how superior he really is to us.
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ALL ABOUT? IS HE SOME KIND OF GOD?!
Well, everyone is dressed up really nicely in order to impress this judge. We all hope he’s in a good mood because the fate of our case depends on it.
So when the judge is ready, he finally lets us get on with our cases. All guilty pleas first, please. The whole court would like to hear about your embarrassing personal problems. All of us (including me, sadly) hangs on their every word. A DWI – jail sentence. Driving w/o a license—jail. Hmm…I’m feeling a little better about my traffic ticket. Ok…Im ready…Im in the right frame of mind now…Im ready to defend myself…
Hey my case was never called… The world really does revolve around me. “Oh, whoops, we have one more special case” “He pleaded guilty and wants to change his plea” Ok…blah blah blah…selective amnesia…blah…Judge yells at me, calls me spoiled in so many words—says he can’t do the trial now.
Fuck it.
The system wears you down to a point where youre completely indifferent + apathetic to the whole thing.
Whatever…
I’m gonna lay down and enjoy one thing that makes me happy—Mallrats.
